Natalie Portman appeared at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday for the screening of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith along with director George Lucas, producer Rick McCallum, Samuel L. Jackson, Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, and Anthony Daniels. Pictures are available in the gallery. Natalie also appeared at the screening of Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang on Saturday.

V for Vendetta Press Conference

Star Wars Trailer Debut Tomorrow

From March 10, at 9:00 p.m. EST, AOL and Hyperspace.com will present the highly anticipated Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith trailer online. The trailer will be made available to the open Web audience through Moviefone.com and StarWars.com on March 14. Revenge of the Sith hits theaters worldwide on May 19, 2005.

No Oscar For Natalie...

Unfortunately, Natalie Portman didn't win last night in the category she was nominated. Instead, Cate Blanchett received the award for best supporting female actress for her appearance in The Aviator. Closer co-star, Clive Owen was also beat by Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby) in the category for best supporting actor. Stay tuned for pictures.

Closer DVD Announced

According to the Sony Pictures website and DVDAnswers.com, Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment will release the DVD of Closer on March 29th. The film itself will receive a Superbit widescreen presentation along with both English Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS Surround tracks. The only extra material will be The Blower's Daughter music video performed by Damien Rice and previews for other Columbia releases. English and French subtitles will also be provided.

The nominees for the 77th Annual Academy Awards have been announced, and Natalie Portman has been nominated in the category "Actress In A Supporting Role" for her performance in Closer. She is up against Cate Blanchett (The Aviator), Laura Linney (Kinsey), Virginia Madsen (Sideways), and Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda).

Sorry about the lack of updates lately, but this game is getting addictive as h*ll. Ok, so JC of np.org was kind enough to send in some info on another new Natalie Portman project called The Free Zone. The movie will be a comedy about three women who run an armored vehicle business in the Middle East, and principal photography will begin in February in Israel.

Natalie Portman has been confirmed to star in V for Vendetta, an action thriller by the Wachowski Brothers and Joel Silver coming out this fall. V for Vendatta is based on the acclaimed graphic novel under the same title by author Alan Moore and illustrator David Lloyd. It was originally collected by DC Comics as a ten-part series in 1988.

These STARmeter rankings are not based upon critical assessments or box-office performance, but the actual search behavior of over 20 million users of IMDb.com. Natalie Portman received 21st place, while Johnny Depp, Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightley topped the list.

Again, Natalie Portman has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Closer, this time by the Critics' Choice Awards. It looks like her chance at receiving an Oscar nomination in January is getting better by the day... Closer was also nominated for Best Acting Ensamble, while Garden State was nominated for best soundtrack.

Closer 2nd Weekend Gross

Closer went slightly downhill this weekend compared to last week's opening and grossed $3.7 million, making up a total of $13.7 million. This weekend, the movie will have its widest release with more than 1000 screens.
