It's a sad commentary on growing up in the public eye, when even Natalie Portman ends up just like every other twentysomething female in Hollywood. For despite all her talent as an actress, it still comes down to the same old thing, as Portman peels down to her skivvies and does a pole dance for her "art" in the new film "Closer." Perhaps it seemed like a good idea to play a pink-haired stripper whose emotional life is a mess because Oscarฎ-winning director Mike Nichols helms the film? Or maybe it seemed okay because she stars opposite Jude Law, Clive Owen, and Julia Roberts, respected actors? Portman obviously saw "Closer" as an opportunity to advance her career, but really, in the end, it's just another movie with another young woman agreeing to peel down and demean herself while everyone else stays fully clothed, watching her "act."
